The movie emphasizes the importance of the "family connection" in keeping family members from turning to drugs as a crutch to survive in our fast paced world.
The cry of freedom tells the story of Brazilizn woman, Rose Marie, who marries an American businessman in order to came to United States. Rose Marie's life becomes a battle ground when her husband convinces her to bring her daughter, who has been living with Rose's mother in Brazil, to the United states. Sabrina is "hell bent" on making her mother's life miserable because Rose Marie chose to have her mother raise Sabrina. Sabrina feels unloved and unwanted by her mother and is determined to punish her.
